Rogoznica is traditionally a fishing settlement and visitors can buy recently caught fish. Local festivals, taking place in August - Ribarska noc (Fisherman's Night) and Noc Rogoznice (Rogoznica Night) - attract many visitors including those from Split and Sibenik. Due to its indented coastline and other sports facilities, Rogoznica is perfect for water sports as well as other activities. Secluded beaches await you in numerous inlets in the vicinity of Rogoznica.
Rogoznica is frequently visited by boaters because of Frapa marina, considered to be one of the most beautiful and safest in this part of the Adriatic. The island with all the marina's facilities, as well as its nine piers on 136,000 m2 make it a beauty among the marinas and as a proof it has three Golden Sails (awarded by Večernji List daily for the best marina in the Adriatic) and a prestigious award Blue Flag for environment protection. Open: All year round. Berths: The marina has 30 berths and 150 boat places on land.
The Gradina peninsula is also the site of the lake of Zmajevo oko, with sea water. The lake is of irregular oval shape ( 150 by 70 meters ), with an area of 5.300 sq meters, and maximum depth of 15 meters. The lake is considered to be a natural bioreactor with intesive biochemical processes taking place there.
The parish church and the spire dominate the settlement. The orginal parish church was consecrated by the bishop Arrigoni on May 11. 1615. but the church was extended in 1683, and was dedictated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Man has lived in the area since prehistoric times. Many archeologists think that the Greek colony of Heraclea was located in the area.
